Steps to apply patches from command line (Classpath method)

Filed under: * Different ways to install/uninstall patches — streethawkz @ 8:20 pm

* Below are the steps to edit classpath in commEnv file :

1. Copy the patch (.jar file) to your hard disk.

2. Specify the path of the patch in the “WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH” variable listed inside the “commEnv.sh” file. (The “commEnv.sh” file is located at “weblogic92\common\bin”)

For Solaris you will have to use the following

set

WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH=”PATCH/path/specified:${PATCH_CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}${JAVA_HOME}/lib/tools.jar${CLASSPATHSEP}${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic_sp.jar${CLASSPATHSEP}${WL_HOME}/server/lib/weblogic.jar${CLASSPATHSEP}${WL_HOME}/server/lib/webservices.jar”

For Windows you will have to use the following

set WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH= C:\bea92\user_projects\domains\domainA_customPostForm\4SGD.jar;%PATCH_CLASSPATH%;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\webservices.jar

3. Save the changes and restart the Weblogic server.

Below are the steps to edit classpath in startWebLogic file :

1. Copy the patch (.jar file) to your hard disk.

2. Specify the path of the patch in the CLASSPATH variable listed inside that startup script

For WLS 8.1 : startWebLogic.cmd located in the domain directory.

The path of the patch should be the first argument of the CLASSPATH variable.

e.g. set CLASSPATH=PATCH(name of the PatchFile);.\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;.\lib\weblogic.jar

For Solaris/AIX you will have to use the following

CLASSPATH=”PATCH/path/specified:${WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH}:${POINTBASE_CLASSPATH}:

${JAVA_HOME}/jre/lib/rt.jar:${WL_HOME}/server/lib/webservices.jar:${CLASSPATH}”

3. Save the changes and restart the Weblogic server.

Sample

CLASSPATH=”PATCH/path/specified:${WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH}:${POINTBASE_CLASSPATH}:${JAVA_HOME}/jre/lib/rt.jar:${WL_HOME}/server/lib/webservices.jar:${CLASSPATH}”export CLASSPATH
